Psychic Readings at the Castle
Can you learn what the future holds by shuffling a deck of cards? Is it possible to receive messages from those who have passed over to the other side? What would our pets say if they were suddenly able to speak? Find the answers to these questions and more during an afternoon of Psychic Readings at the Castle. If you've always wanted to have a reading, but weren't sure how to go about it, this is your chance to explore the ancient art of divination in comfortable and familiar surroundings. Our readers are all area residents who were selected to participate based on the uncanny accuracy of their predictions and the positive nature of their guidance. This is not a lecture or group presentation. The readers will offer private individual sessions lasting approximately 25 minutes.

The Castle's 2010 Victorian Funeral program offers visitors an intimate, interactive experience. Small groups will tour the downstairs of the gothic mansion, which will contain a coffin and be decorated in the somber colors of full mourning. Costumed guides will describe different aspects of the Victorian Celebration of Death including superstitions; etiquette; the role of undertakers, post-mortem photographers and other members of the "dismal trade;" as well as the Victorians' obsession with the occult. Before returning to modern time, visitors will eavesdrop on bereaved ladies as they consult a medium and attempt to commune with the spirits.
The 2010 Victorian Funeral Program will be held on Saturday, October 9, repeated Sunday October 10. Tours begin at 2:00pm and continue each 15 minutes through 4:00pm. ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Call The Castle at 740-373-4180. Admission $10.00. Due to subject matter, children may find this program disturbing. Parental discretion advised.
Visitors are invited, although not required, to wear mourning costumes.

The Washington County Historical Society and Hidden Marietta are offering Twilight Tours of the Anchorage – Marietta's original haunted house. Hear the tragic story of Eliza Putnam whose unhappy spirit may still wander the halls. Learn what paranormal investigators have captured on film and tape during their overnight stays. Discover the truth behind the legends of tunnels, secret rooms and runaway slaves. 2010 Twilight Tours of the Anchorage will be offered on three Sunday evenings: October 10, 17 and 24. The tours begin at 7pm. Reservations are not required. $10 for adults, $7 for children 12 and under. Cash only. Exact change greatly appreciated. A portion of the proceeds goes toward renovations.
